"I am primarily a plein air painter. When this is not possible I work from my own photos as a point of departure. I am inspired by the area I live in and the things around me, such as Acampo vineyards, palm trees, the oak trees peeking through the delta fog, cattle playfully grazing, the flowers from the garden, and reflected color in all kinds of items and bottles. I have a deep passion for vibrant color."
As a young girl Marilyn's parents encouraged her by enrolling her in art courses and creating a studio in the back of their antique shop where she would spend hours painting. "All I ever wanted to do was create art," explains Eger.
Marilyn values a strong art education and continues to take classes and workshops. Eger earned a Bachelor of Arts from California State University, Stanislaus. She also received her teaching credential from Chapman College enabling her to instruct future artists at Bear Creek High School in Stockton, California.
A point of pride for the Egers is Marilyn's art studio, which was designed and built by her husband Jerry and is surrounded by the family's vineyards. Marilyn believes art and the creative process is a force of consistency in her life. Eger has not only survived cancer, but many other difficulties. Her art allows her to endure life's challenges. "My art, through my Maker, has healed my spirit."
Marilyn Eger lives in Acampo, California with her husband Jerry Eger.
