Macpherson's success as a plein air painter is bolstered by a BFA from Northern Arizona University and an early career as an illustrator. While that process is intrinsic to his being, Macpherson has a remarkable capacity for sharing the process with others, not only on canvas, but also in words. His extremely popular book, Fill Your Oil Paintings With Light and Color is in its tenth printing and translated into Chinese. Landscape Painting, Inside and Out, Macpherson's new instructional art book is quickly becoming a best seller. He is also a contributing author of many books including Enchanted Isle: A History of Plein Air Painting in Santa Catalina Island. Along with countless Best of Shows, his paintings have influenced many feature articles in Art of the West, Art Talk, and graced the covers of Southwest Art, American Artist, International Artist and The Artist's Magazine.  

Macpherson's workshops are highly sought after by students from around the country.  His technique is demonstrated on videos, Painting the Landscape and Winter Landscape. Kevin recently authored and published Reflections on a Pond: A Visual Journal.

Macpherson is the former president and Signature Member of the Plein-Air Painters of America, Master Signature Member of Oil Painters of America, Member of the Northwest Rendezvous Group, Master Artist of the American Impressionist Society, and Member of the Salmagundi Club.
